Excerpt from letter from Pat Hayes to Bruce Anderson 10 Feb 1973

I'm working towards a paper to send to the special 1974
representation-theory edition of the AI journal. I bet JMC is
also aiming at that: yes?

Tell John I know I owe him a letter and ids on my stack
of things to get done. Tell him teaching is horrible and research
is difficult. Tell him that what I want to say to him about
representation & our paper is basically that we need to distinguish
	(1) knowledge of the world
	(2) knowledge of problem-solving
	(3) the interpretive machinery which infers.
and that the "heuristic/epistemological" stuff blurs the distinction
(2)/(3), which is a pity. And that one of the points of the
distinction (2)/(3) is that (#) BELONGS IN THE SEMANPICS OF THE
LANGUAGE WHICH EMBODIES (2) ← which is one that Hewitt missed!

Tell him also that if he puts that in his paper before I get
mine written, I'll kill him.
